As Havi shares, “’We…were so pleasantly surprised with how resilient our campers have been.’” Federation is proud to support the crucial, Jewish identity-building efforts of our local camps—including with an incremental scholarship and financial aid funding to help more families send their kids to camp this summer.

Cooper draws on ethnographic research in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, as well as among immigrants to the US and Israel. Together with her historical research about a series of dramatic encounters between Bukharan Jews and Jews in other parts of the world, Dr. Cooper will illuminate the tensions inherent in maintaining Judaism as a single global religion throughout its long and varied diaspora history.
