Community Comes Together for A.G. Rhodes

The A.G. Rhodes Board of Advisors once again hosted its signature Living Well Luncheon on February 23 to advance information about healthcare related to older adults and to benefit the well-being of the residents and staff at A.G. Rhodes. This event brings together business leaders, partners, and supporters to hear speakers present on important aging-related issues that impact our community.
Proceeds from the event go towards the A.G. Rhodes Care Partners Scholarship Fund, which provides assistance in further education and training opportunities for our staff.

More than 200 people attended the event.
During Horticultural Therapy sessions prior to the luncheon, residents arranged beautiful orchids that were used as event centerpieces. Thank you to Trader Joe's of Midtown for donating the orchids!

Developing Leaders at A.G. Rhodes

We recently celebrated our second class of the Leadership Development Program at a graduation ceremony. Jocelyn Dorsey, former WSB-TV Broadcast Manager and member of the A.G. Rhodes Board of Trustees, gave the remarks during the program. The purpose of the Leadership Development Program is to promote equity and inclusion at A.G. Rhodes by providing mentorships and advancement opportunities for Care Partners, specifically frontline staff.
"We are proud to offer opportunities to cultivate the next generation of healthcare leaders, and I am excited to see what's in store for these graduates," said Deke Cateau, A.G. Rhodes CEO.
Congratulations to the Class of 2023 Leadership Development Program graduates: Charelle Barber, Priscilla Collins, Jovonne Harvey, Kim Johnson, and Tammy Johnson!

Following in Her Mother's Footsteps

Employee Spotlight: AnnaRose Carbajal
After caring for her late mother when she became ill, AnnaRose Carbajal found her career aspiration: To follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a nurse.
“She was a CNA and then a nurse. She always told me that I was made for this job,” AnnaRose said.

A Run for Service

A team of A.G. Rhodes Care Partners braved the cold and wind to participate in the Pebble Tossers Ripple Run 5K/1K and Nonprofit Expo on March 19. Pebble Tossers, a youth and family volunteering service organization, is a long-time partner and supporter of A.G. Rhodes, and we were glad to support them in return at their event!
In addition to the 5K/1K, Team A.G. Rhodes also hosted a service project at the Nonprofit Expo to make Easter basket treats for residents.

Happenings in our Homes
We have a pineapple! Fun fact: it takes pineapples about two years to ripen so it's always a fun day when it's finally ready to eat.
Residents continue to enjoy their weekly Positive Motion for Seniors class at The Atlanta Dance Academy (TADA). We are looking forward to their performance in April!
We also celebrated Black History Month in February. And Atlanta residents enjoyed a fun Horticultural Therapy session with a group of Georgia Tech students working on a robotics project to assist older adults in gardening tasks.
