From the Department Chair
Dear alumni, friends and supporters:
Fall '23 has been an exciting time for Clemson's Department of Marketing as we embrace the University's challenge to Elevate our student experience, research and community impact. In August, we welcomed six new faculty members, which is a result of our growth in majors and a commitment to hiring faculty who are doing cutting-edge research. The newest cohort of our M.S. Marketing program is working with clients of the South Carolina Small Business Development Center to deliver programmatic digital advertising campaigns for platform certification and go-to-market strategies. In May, we took 30 undergraduate students to New York City to experience a behind-the-scenes look at how marketing strategy is implemented at some of the world's leading corporations, including PepsiCo, L'Oréal and Amazon. The Marketing Student Advisory Board hosted an expert panel discussion about careers in digital marketing, and our advisory boards participated in an energizing day together at our combined College board meeting with Dean York in October. The Sales Innovation Program (SIP) is booming with over 200 student members, and our sales faculty have begun research projects with SIP corporate partners on topics ranging from salesperson retention to incentive and compensation packages. Finally, the Department ushered in a leadership change, as Jennifer Siemens, Ph.D., was promoted to associate dean for faculty excellence, and Danny Weathers, Ph.D., was appointed interim department chair. If you are interested in learning about involvement opportunities with the Department of Marketing or would like to help support student and faculty initiatives, please consider a financial gift to the Marketing Excellence Fund. You can also engage with the Department in other ways, such as mentoring students and hiring Clemson marketing graduates! We wish you all a restful holiday season and look forward to hopefully seeing many of you in the upcoming year. Go Tigers!
Jennifer Siemens, Ph.D. Associate Dean and marketing professor
