National title for Finance/Accounting majors’ analytical efforts 
A team of College of Business finance and accounting double majors flexed their collective analytical muscles and brought home a national title in late October. Emma Lee and Chris Breemen beat out 40 other collegiate teams from across the nation to place first in Cisco’s Leaders in Finance and Technology Case Competition in San Jose, Calif.

Clemson chapter of Delta Sigma Pi wins two regional honors 
Clemson’s chapter of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity has received the most improved chapter and outstanding service awards from the organization’s Southeastern Region. The Kappa Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Pi is composed of about 100 freshman-to-senior members considered to be high-achieving students inside and outside the classroom.

Sole purpose of Puerto Rico CI is lesson in servant leadership
Students will have the opportunity to practice servant leadership first-hand in the spring semester as part of an experiential Creative Inquiry project that will include classroom research and a week-long trip to Puerto Rico. The class is in partnership with Samaritan’s Feet International, a Charlotte, N.C.-based non-profit which distributes new shoes to underprivileged students in the U.S. and abroad.

Clemson University Research Foundation has awarded Erica Walker, assistant professor in the Department of Graphic Communications, one of its 2020 Technology Maturation Fund grants. Walker, in collaboration with Hudson Smith, research associate in analytical systems and applications, will continue development of ColorNet, a color-management system based on Neural Networks.

Clemson food waste, sustainability initiative expands collaborations under new leadership
Clemson has tapped a new leader for its food waste and sustainability initiative, Sonoco FRESH. Anne Barr will serve as the executive director of Sonoco FRESH, which is part of the university’s Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics. As part of her responsibilities, Barr will create an annual summit beginning in fall 2020 to connect thought leaders from across the fresh food supply chain and tackle the tough conversations surrounding food waste.
