May WE be YOUR Grandmother?
By Ann Seacrest, RN, IBCLC, Executive Director of MilkWorks Although World Breastfeeding Week is typically celebrated in August, at MilkWorks EVERY day is world breastfeeding week. Since we opened our doors over 16 years ago, exclusive breastfeeding rates in our country have slowly climbed. Many mothers WANT to breastfeed. They START breastfeeding, but many stop far sooner than they want to. Our mission is to help mothers meet THEIR breastfeeding goals.
We often forget that we really do not know much about breastfeeding. Mothers and babies relied upon breastfeeding for centuries, since the beginning of mankind. We disrupted breastfeeding ~sixty years ago. As we try and restore breastfeeding, our values have shifted, our daily life looks different, and there is a huge gap in what we do and don’t know.

The ACA and Support to Breastfeeding Mothers
Insurance coverage for breastfeeding support and breast pumps is possible because of the Affordable Care Act. If you are concerned about losing this coverage because the ACA may be repealed, please visit Nebraska Appleseed or MomsRising to find out how you can provide input.

| NEW at MilkWorks O - Breastfeeding & Babywearing
Want to learn to breastfeed while wearing your baby?
This class will provide hands on guidance on how to combine breastfeeding and babywearing. Please bring your baby and any personal carriers. Demo carriers will also be available.
This class is a collaboration between MilkWorks O and Babywearing International of Omaha and is taught by a Breastfeeding Educator and Babywearing Educator. While this is a FREE class, space is limited and you MUST call MilkWorks O {402.502.0617} to register and reserve your spot. Upcoming ClassesAll About Breastfeeding: Take this class in the second half of your pregnancy to get ready for that first feed! Bring your partner with you! The fee is $25. (Please note: this class may be covered by your private insurance plan.)
Lincoln: Saturday, August 19, 10am-3pm OR Tuesdays, August 1 & 8, 6-8pm
Omaha: Saturday, August 12, 10am-3pm
Return to Work: Perfect for moms heading back to the work force while breastfeeding! Join us while pregnant, or when you are on your maternity leave! The fee is $15. (Please note: this class is included in our FREE Pump Service Plan that comes with all breast pumps obtained at MilkWorks.)
Lincoln: Tuesday, August 15, 6-8pm
Omaha: Thursday, August 31, 6-8pm Introducing Solids: Taught by a registered dietitian, this is an ideal class to attend when your baby is three to six months old! The fee is $15. (Please note: this class is FREE for mothers who receive consultation services at MilkWorks.)
Lincoln ONLY: Wednesday, August 30, 6-8pm
