Enacting AI Disclosure in Scholarly Publishing

Scholarly authors are increasingly expected to disclose and describe their use of generative AI. In a commentary published in American Ethnologist, Marcel LaFlamme and Natalie Meyers sketch emerging practices of AI disclosure and attribution, consider how these practices might be adapted to address epistemic and ethical commitments, and recommend strategies for AI disclosure that build on existing norms in publishing. Court Rules in Favor of Public Access to Information

In a win for information advocates and the public, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled that the American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM) was unlikely to succeed on its claim that online research platform UpCodes infringed copyright by posting ASTM building standards on its website.
