Idelic Raises $20M Almost All From Out of Town Investors 

Idelic Inc., developer of commercial trucking analytics and driver management solutions, recently raised $20M. The Series B round was led by Highland Capital Partners, with participation from AXA Venture Partners and previous investors Birchmere Ventures, Origin Ventures, TDF Ventures and SaaS Venture Capital. Idelic is co-founded by CMU Tepper School of Business alumni Nick Bartel and Hayden Cardiff, and MS Music and Technology technical co-founder, Andrew Russell. Read more.
Finding Silence in the Brain: CMU Ph.D. Creates Program That Analyzes Patterns
in Data


Alireza Chamanzar, an electrical and computer engineering Ph.D. student and CMU Swartz Center Innovation Fellow, has recently published a paper about an algorithm he created to noninvasively locate silent regions of the brain. The algorithm, called SilenceMap, uses data from an EEG, a device that collects brain activity from electrodes placed on the patient’s head. Read more.

Undergraduate students from across CMU may apply to the Innovation Scholars program through Friday, April 2 at 11:59Pm; EST. This two-year program fosters innovation and entrepreneurship and provides mentoring opportunities for CMU's undergraduate, entrepreneurially-minded students.

Apply to the 2021 VentureBridge Summer Accelerator
Program by April 13!
 
 
The CMU Swartz Center's VentureBridge Summer Accelerator is a 12-week program that will be hosted virtually this summer. The program is designed to connect startups with a network of mentors, customers and early-stage investors. Weekly summer sessions include: mentor matching with 2-3 mentors, investor and expert office hours, pitch practice sessions, founder dinners, weekly round-tables and Demo Day at the end of the summer. A cohort of 5-8 companies is selected and each will receive an investment of $25K from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as many other in-kind services.

CMU alumni startups and soon-to-be graduates are invited to apply. See the event flyer (pdf).
