Psalm 34:9-11
Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
    for those who fear him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
    but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Come, my children, listen to me;
    I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

New International Version (NIV)
               An Amish man told a guest who was staying in their simple house, “If you need anything, let me know and I will show you how you can live without it.”  We are not used to doing without.  What is the secret to lacking nothing?  It is finding our fullness in the Father.
                Does it sound odd to us to fear the Lord?  In context it always means loving God enough to trust him and to live with a healthy reverence for him.  Those who are holy fear the Lord and find that we lack nothing.  Even the most voracious hunting lions may run out of food, but when we seek the Lord he gives us freely every good thing we need.
                The last verse reminds me of times when we gather our family together.  What do we have to give to our children?  We can teach them to live with love and trust and reverence for the Lord.  The fear of the Lord is the starting place for the wisdom we need to live each day.
Pray with me:
Father, teach us today to live with reverence for you.   Out of your goodness give us every good thing we need today.  Please show us how to live without the things that we want but do not need.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
