Join Push-ups for Veterans’ Suicide Prevention, Sept. 19 |
|
|
As we gear up for Maroon & Gold Weekend, join us for a meaningful start on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the West Lawn near the David Center, as we come together for 22 Push-Ups for Veteran Suicide Awareness. Everyone is invited to meet active-duty service members, enjoy lunch, win prizes, and join in 22 push-ups every half hour to raise awareness for veterans’ suicide prevention. Leading the push-ups will be U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Walsh alum Joshua Ruiz ’21, our Veteran Affairs Coordinator. Modified push-ups are welcome, and all are encouraged to participate. According to Veterans Affairs (VA) researchers, an estimated 22 veterans take their own lives every day—a staggering number that may be even higher. Let’s come together as a community to help raise awareness and support our veterans. Special thanks to our sponsor SoL Harris/Day Architecture for their support of this event and the Pro Football Hall of Fame for donating an autographed football from the 2023 Class of Inductees to give to the winner of the push up challenge. | Read More (PDF)

Dr. Nick Morris gave a presentation on Climate Change for the North Canton Public Library’s Senior Group. The group had many questions about the causes of climate change, its global impact, and its effect on major industries. We appreciate Dr. Morris volunteering his time and knowledge! This presentation was part of Walsh University’s partnership with the North Canton Public Library. Walsh facilitates a monthly program for the senior group. Do you have an idea for a program? Contact Hannah Monske or Bridget England to set it up! The senior group loves connecting with Walsh for performances, presentations, hands-on activities, and more.

The 13th annual Fit Family 5K Run/Walk, organized by the Walsh DPT Class of 2026, was a great success, with 158 participants—a notable increase from last year. Matt Parker, a 3rd-year DPT student, took first place with a time of 16:53. The event not only promoted fitness but also helped raise funds for the professional development of future physical therapists. Families enjoyed a day of activities, including music, coffee, a bake sale, and a kids’ Fun Run. | View Photos

This event is a key part of our commitment to supporting first-gen students on their college journey. With 35 students applying this year, the program continues to grow, and your support is more important than ever! As we celebrate the Year of Community, this initiative reflects our dedication to fostering connection and mentorship across campus. Thank you for helping our First Gen Cavs thrive!
