While the return to in-person classes and activities this semester has been exciting, your commitment to protecting yourselves and one another against COVID-19 has been even more impressive. Thank you for helping to keep our case count low.
Halloween is also exciting, but we ask that you keep making responsible choices and avoid high-risk activities this weekend. If you do have plans to gather, please keep the group small and remember that Otsego County is still a high-transmission community according to the CDC, which recommends that everyone wear masks in all indoor settings. We’ve come this far, let’s keep the momentum and finish the semester strong by continuing to do all we can to prevent new cases of COVID-19 on campus.
We all have a social responsibility to respect others, not only by following health and safety guidelines, but by ensuring our celebrations and costumes do not promote stereotypes or cultural misrepresentations. Costumes that mock or mimic different cultures or ethnicities are damaging and degrading. Thank you for being considerate and supporting the college’s commitment to equity and inclusion.
There are a lot of fun and safe Halloween-themed activities to participate in. Check Campus Connection for a full list of events happening all weekend. Thank you for doing your part, and we hope you have a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Cecere, Student Association President
