Library Building Opens to OU Students, Faculty, & Staff

Kresge Library has now been open for nearly two weeks to our OU students, faculty, and staff! We just want to thank you for keeping everyone safe by wearing a mask and keeping socially distant as you've visited and studied in the library! Check out the Association of American Medical Colleges's Consensus Guidance on Face Coverings, which provides an evidence-based review on public mask usage using information from the CDC, state and local governments, and public health experts.
As you continue to use the library's physical and virtual spaces, here are just a few friendly reminders:
Virtual Reference & Research Consultations: Though the library building is open, our library services remain primarily virtual. Reach out to us online for any questions related to our resources, teaching, learning, and research by:

New Resource: VisualDX

VisualDx homepage
The Medical Library now subscribes to VisualDx, an image-based clinical support tool with point-of-care information to aid in the identification of visually identifiable diseases including dermatologic, infectious, genetic, metabolic, drug-induced conditions, and occupational injuries. In addition, more than 28% of the images are of skin types IV, V, and VI.
Visit their tutorials webpage for how to look up a diagnosis, build a differential, and review a medication adverse event.

September is Women in Medicine Month

Women in Medicine Month
To celebrate, the Medical Library is highlighting our ever-expanding Women in Medicine Collection featuring books, eBooks, and other resources related to strategies for success, work-life balance, personal stories, and more!

Check out our Women in Medicine Collection online guide for links to eBooks and a list of print titles from this collection. As many of the books in this collection are only available in print, request a book using Kresge Library's new contactless process. See our July email update for more information.

We're always looking for additional titles to add so if you have additional recommendations, please contact us at medref@oakland.edu
