Updated Quarantine & Isolation Guidance

The college has adopted the new quarantine and isolation guidance from the CDC, New York State and the Otsego County Department of Health.

Masks Still Required Indoors For All,
N95, KN95 Masks Encouraged

The college still requires masks to be worn by everyone in all indoor settings and masks must fit snugly to your face, fully covering your nose and mouth.

Due to the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant, we are asking everyone on campus to review the CDC's advice about choosing the right mask or respirator for different situations and guidance on how to ensure your mask will work the best it can. We are also strongly encouraging the use of N95 or KN95 masks/respirators. Project N95 is a non-profit organization that serves as a trusted resource for information about N95s and KN95s.

Outdoors, masks are required for those who are unvaccinated and cannot maintain a 6 foot distance from others. Masks are strongly encouraged, but not required, outdoors for those who are fully vaccinated.

Additional Booster Appointments Available

Additional appointments for the on-campus Pfizer booster clinic on Jan. 31 have been added. The Pfizer clinic will now run from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the Moderna clinic will run from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Counseling, Health and Wellness Center. Appointments are required and can be made online at the links below.

The Otsego County Department of Health is also hosting a booster clinic this Thursday, Jan. 27 in Cooperstown at the county's Meadows Office Complex, 140 County Highway 33W, Cooperstown, NY. (Oneonta Public Transit (OPT) busses offer weekday service to the Meadows Complex on the Cooperstown route.) There are still plenty of appointments available which must be reserved online at the links below.

Testing Reminders & FAQs

There are many options for students and employees to get tested for COVID-19 on campus or locally this semester. Full details about the testing procedures and availability are listed on the COVID-19 webpage.

Remember:

Students and employees who are not fully vaccinated are required to test weekly in our surveillance testing program.
Seven percent of fully vaccinated students and five percent of fully vaccinated employees will also be randomly selected and required to participate in surveillance testing each week.
Testing protocols and frequencies may change as needed to be compliant with the evolving guidelines and ensure safety of students and employees.

Testing FAQs:

Where can I get a precautionary test on campus? The weekly surveillance testing center will continue to be located in the Morris Conference Center for asymptomatic students and employees who are required to test or would like to get a precautionary test. Hours of operation for the Spring 2022 semester are posted on the "Testing Center Hours & Information" section of the COVID-19 webpage.
What if I begin to experience symptoms? As with any illness, students should contact their primary care provider or the Health Center (607-436-3573) for advice and seek a test as soon as possible. Employees should contact their primary care provider for guidance and seek a test as soon as possible.
Can students and employees use the public testing site in the Emergency Services Building? Yes, but this site is reserved for people experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Hours of operation for the Spring 2022 semester are posted on the "Testing Center Hours & Information" section of the COVID-19 webpage.
Are there places to get tested off campus? Yes. Several pharmacies and clinics off campus are offering regular COVID testing. Use the NYS Test Site Finder to search sites near the campus or your home.
What happens if I test positive? Anyone who tests positive must isolate according to the guidance on the COVID-19 webpage.
- Students must report the positive result to the Health Center and enter isolation immediately. Students isolating on campus should call the Quarantine & Isolation Team at 607-436-2077 for assistance moving into the isolation building. Students must follow the directions of the Health Center, Q&I team, and the department of health to successfully complete isolation.
- Employees must report the positive result to Human Resources, must isolate at home and must follow the directions of Human Resources and their local county's department of health to successfully complete isolation.
