"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." (Helen Keller)
In order to foster a strong student culture and grow a caring and cooperative community, our Middle School students recently took to the ropes at Camp Chanco and Challenge Discovery. By combining engaging problem-solving exercises with achievable physical challenges, our students learned essential team-work skills, strengthened relationships, and discovered some new inner strengths and confidence as well. Rumor has it that they had fun too!
 Important Announcements:
Thank you to ALL of our Admission Sign Ambassadors!  And a hearty congratulations to Lindsay Walker!  She is the winner of the pair of Auction tickets from the "Plant a Sign" raffle.
Cleaning Closets? Do you have any St. Michael’s Spiritwear no longer needed/worn by your children? We'd love to have it! Kindergarten mom, Nancy Chafin, is creating a special auction item with Spiritwear/MDD t-shirts (okay to send stained/torn). Please leave ASAP in one of the School’s Offices or in the Development Office. Thanks!
Join Us for "Meetings With Michael"
With the year off to a great start, Mr. Turner would like to extend an invitation to families to join him for conversation and an exchange of ideas and insights on the theme of "community".  He would love your thoughts on:
1. How do you (we) define community?
2. What role does community play in how we pursue our mission?
3. What can each of each of us do to strengthen and enrich our community?
The schedule is as follows:
  • Tuesday, October 14 at 2 p.m. (Singleton Campus, Great Hall)
  • Tuesday, October 14 at 7 p.m. (Singleton Campus, Great Hall)
  • Wednesday, October 15 at 8:15 a.m. (Bon Air Campus, Dundas-Hatcher Hall)
Thank you to the SMPA for hosting this program. We hope you join us for this exciting discussion!

SMPA Tennis Social a Huge Success!
Thank you to everyone who helped with the SMAP tennis social last Friday.  Under dark skies and hailing acorns, we managed to squeak in several rounds of great tennis.  Raffle prizes were handed out including hats and t-shirts from the US Open, gift cards, and beautiful mums.  In addition to having fun, we managed to raise nearly $400 for the SMPA.
We especially appreciate those folks who donated a prize or a food item, those who participated in the tennis social and all who supported the SMPA. Thank you!
