Book Discussion: Burnout

Join Rev. Christina on October 14 from 6:30-8:00 pm CT for a discussion of the book Burnout- The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski (also available at local libraries). If you can’t make this discussion time, but want to attend, please let Rev. Christina know what time could possibly work better for you. The discussion will take place in person and virtually, see our website HERE for log-in details.
Burnout came out in early 2020, right before the pandemic (prescient!), and is an easy-to-read and often funny exploration of the science behind stress. It offers understandable and useful ways to let go of stress in our bodies more effectively. This book is written for people who identify or were socialized as women, and there are many discussions of the ways society treats women differently, but after the 18 months we’ve all experienced, Rev. Christina has no doubt that anyone of any gender could find useful parts of this book!

QPR Training

Justice Action Ministry

Immigration Justice Family Updates

Our Fellowship community has been supporting people seeking asylum (a 21-year-old with her 3-year-old son, and a 16-year-old) for over a year. Recently the 16-year old’s family was reunited with her here because the US government illegally separated them several years ago. Our Fellowship community donated everything they needed to live in the Fox Valley, and we continue to financially support them as they wait for the necessary paperwork to be able to work. They are also working hard to learn English, and we are thrilled that the mom has started the Even Start Family Literacy program for in-depth English learning.
The 21-year-old is studying for her HSED and recently got her work permit. She is now working for a local daycare and is looking to the future when she will live on her own with her son. Our Immigration Justice Team continues to help coordinate rides, grocery runs, and other support as they need it.
If you would like to learn more about the team and how you can support our work, stop by our table after this Sunday’s services outside the Fellowship. You can also contact Marti Wheeler at martiwheeler50@gmail.com for more information.
