Josh Simpson creates his signature New Mexico glass in a vast range of colors, ranging from light to dark blue with overtones of purple, teal, green, and aquamarine. Curator Olivia Padula of the Sandwich Glass Museum wrote, for Josh's upcoming exhibit: "Factors such as the amount and variety of silver in the glass formula; the levels of oxygen, propane, and CO2 in the furnace; as well the artist’s technique... all determine the glass’s appearance. Although complete control is impossible in glassblowing, Simpson has, in his five decades of artistry, become a skillful wrangler of these variables." So true!
