White mold of soybean and its management
UW-Madison & Extension Field Crops Pathologist Damon Smith explains the white mold life cycle and the impact of the fungus on soybean. Management recommendations, both chemical and cultural, for white mold control are also discussed.

Sporecaster and Sporebuster mobile apps
Sporecaster is a mobile application that assists growers with making management decisions for the control of white mold in soybean. Farmers input site-specific information about their soybean field into this app. This information is combined with research-based models and weather data to predict the need and best timing for white mold treatment. When a fungicide application is needed to control white mold in soybean, the Sporebuster app can help determine a profitable program. Growers enter expected soybean price, yield, and treatment cost. The app instantly compares ten different treatment plans to determine average net gain and breakeven probability of each plan.
You can download the Sporecaster app here (for iPhone) or here (for Android). Sporebuster can be found here (iPhone) or here (Android). An instructional video on the use of the Sporecaster app can be found here.

Tar spot in Columbia County
Tar spot has been spotted in Columbia County, making 2022 earliest such finding in Wisconsin. While the risk is low and Damon Smith, UW Extension Field Crops Pathologist, does not recommend a fungicide treatment at the moment. What do you do now? Read more HERE.
The best time to manage for tarspot is in V8 to R4 corn. Tarspotter is an app that uses GPS coordinates to determine if weather has been favorable for the development of Tar spot fungus during corn flowering in a specific field. Check it out and download HERE.

Resources for cover crops following wheat

A roundup of regional prices for hay, published every two weeks.
The Farmer to Farmer Hay, Forage and Corn List put Wisconsins farmers in touch with one another for the purpose of buying and/or selling corn and forage.
Trying to find a favorable forage? Team Forage's forage trials compare species and varieties for yield, grazing intake and palatability. Often the variety of forage is as important or more important than the species!
