Texas Tech College of Human Sciences E-Viewpoints Newsletter
October 2019
Alumni and Friends,
Welcome to the latest issue of E-Viewpoints, the newsletter of the Texas Tech University College of Human Sciences. We welcome our Red Raiders to the fall semester and look forward to a new academic year of progress.

As we enter the fall semester, I want to express my thanks to Linda Hoover who served as Dean for the last 19 years. Dean Hoover’s legacy will continue to make an impact on the College and success of our programs.  Moving forward we have many exciting initiatives underway that will impact our students and our communities.

President Schovanec recently announced that enrollment numbers reached an all-time high, with overall enrollment up 1.5% across campus. In the College of Human Sciences, we proudly welcomed 2,792 undergraduates and 501 graduate students this fall. We exceeded the university’s retention goal in the number of retained full time, degree-seeking, first-time new freshmen—reaching 90.3%.

You will read below in several stories about how our faculty and students are working to better the human condition in projects like the UMC Children’s Behavioral Health Clinic and the research findings surrounding fatty liver research. Our graduate students are winning national competitions and undergraduates are in the midst of another round of Dinner Series at Skyviews Restaurant.

I hope you enjoy reading about our latest achievements. We celebrate our College of Human Sciences family and I encourage you to share your latest news and updates.
