Social Media/Outreach Internship Opportunity at UCF Counseling and Psychological Services
| |
Who: talented, responsible, and reliable Human Communication majors interested in developing mental health and well-being content
What: CAPS would like to provide an opportunity for a student to participate in a social media/outreach internship for the upcoming academic year (starting Fall 2020), to help us grow our outreach presence on our social media platforms. A Human Communication major would be a good fit for this role. This is an unpaid internship, with supervision provided via one of our CAPS clinicians. The scope of the work would involve:
- The creation of content, through Powtoon videos, flyers, and graphics, to communicate a message or advertise an event on our social media platforms and website
- Maintaining a frequent presence via postings, and coordination of our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube)
- Additional activities could involve outreach support to our campus community in planning and participating in our signature CAPS programming events (e.g., Healing Art Exhibition, Healthy Knights Expo, Suicide Awareness Day, PAWS-atively Stress-Free, etc.), as well as other events in collaboration with the UCF campus community
Time Commitment: Hours per week would depend on the student’s needs/availability, but would average between 5 – 15 hours per week. This work would all be virtual, as would supervision.
How to apply: submit a current CV and recommendation letter from your department to: karen.hofmann@ucf.edu
This could be a great opportunity for a student to gain some experience creating content for a mental health setting and we would welcome the skills and talents that a Human Communication student could bring to CAPS!

UCF Alums Receive Recognition and They Can’t Shake It Off
"Jonathan Gautier and Jessica (Wigert) met each other at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he received his bachelor’s degree in digital media and then a master’s degree in music, and she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with a minor in music."
When the pandemic first hit, the were worried if their recording studio they built up would survive. During a time when they were in much need of work, a violenist reached out to them about recording some disclosed tracks that had to be done on a quick turnaround, and they had no idea what kind of recognition would come their way.
"They woke up to a text message explaining that their studio, Sound House Studios, was credited as an engineer for the song “August” on Taylor Swift’s surprise album “Folklore.”
