Flavors Of Fall
Are you in the "I love autumn" camp?  Do you prefer this season to any other?  In many locales, crisp, clear, blue-sky days and chilly nights have brought on a panorama of beautiful color.  It's time to pull out that favorite sweatshirt or sweater.  The scents of the forest or bonfire, or the satisfying tang of a pumpkin latte might bring a smile to your face.  Time for baking, warm cider, and outdoor time without the bugs.
In this newsletter, we savor the month of October and suggest some spo-o-o-o-ky pursuits, too.  Halloween fans: Spiff up your campsite or RV interior with scary or cute decor to celebrate this popular holiday.  Everyone: Display those wreaths and cozy throws that say "autumn" in a big way.  Decorate pumpkins.
If your RV is still road-ready, take off on a fall color tour.  Along your route, you might stop at a fascinating ghost town or ghostly attraction.  Combine RVing, history, and a little fun.  What could be better?

FMCAssist Will Be There When You Need It
FMCAssist Medical Evacuation and Repatriation Coverage
"For years as a member of FMCA (member number F419843), I noticed a benefit called FMCAssist, and always thought that is for the other guy, not me.  Well, guess what, I have recently used this amazing benefit and was so pleased it was available.

While traveling in our motorhome in northern Michigan, to see the fall colors (we live in Florida), I became seriously ill with pneumonia, and was hospitalized for 2 weeks.  The situation became complex as my wife is a recovering cancer patient and we have a dog.  Being unable to drive the coach home, or to be in the coach for the many days required to get home, FMCA came to the rescue.

The FMCAssist program and my assigned professional (Dave Shelton) ran flawlessly.  All arrangements were made, considering our circumstances, and all were executed with the same precision.  We arrived home a few days after my hospital release, and our beautiful coach arrived 1 day later.  Dave Shelton could not have been more patient, helpful, professional, and organized.  Everything that he said worked as expected, and we arrived home as planned.

Thank you, Dave.

This benefit of FMCA is a wonderful program, when you suddenly need it, and are least equipped to deal with the situation.  Thank you, FMCA."

How Do I?
DIY Campsite Movie Theatre
With Halloween season in full swing, it's time to break out your favorite scary movies for a horror movie marathon like you've never imagined.  Classic horror movies have begun hitting the shelves of stores and are trending on streaming services, so we want to make sure you have the chance to watch 'em all!

For less than the price of an inexpensive TV, you can create a DIY Campsite Movie Theatre at your own campsite!  All you need is a small projector (there are dozens of options available online), a device to stream or play movies, some rope, and a white sheet.  If you aren't near two trees, you could even project onto the side of your RV.

This is ideal for RVers who are boondocking or staying at parks with very large campsites.  It should go without saying that you do not want to disturb your camp neighbors with a loud movie night.
The "Spirit" of October
Fans of the Travel Channel's "Ghost Adventures" program might like to know that Zak Bagan's The Haunted Museum won the top spot on USAToday's "10Best" list of haunted locations across the United States.  An eerie collection of purportedly haunted items fill an 11,000-square-foot home in downtown Las Vegas, which is rumored to have some ghostly residents as well.  Other attractions on the 10Best list include the Yuma Territorial Prison Museum & Park in Yuma, Arizona, and the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, West Virginia.

Fall driving tours lead the way through nature's beauty.  These 14 suggested routes include trips along the Mississippi River, the Blue Ridge Parkway, New York's Finger Lakes, and others.  For travelers in Canada, this blog suggests an additional six fall foliage routes.  Among them: the Icefields Parkway, from Banff to Jasper national parks in Alberta; the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia; and in Ontario, the Algonquin Highway Corridor, a span between Toronto and Algonquin Provincial Park

If October is spelled "pumpkin" in your world, why not seek out a pumpkin patch as you travel?  This list suggests one in every U.S. state.  For starters, there's Bishop's Pumpkin Farm in Wheatland, California; Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, Connecticut; and Harvestville Farm in Donnellson, Iowa.  Many also host special fall events, corn mazes, wagon rides and apple cider, of course.

Pumpkin Parade

October is here!

Time to enjoy bonfires, apple cider, fall foliage, football, pumpkin farms, and pumpkin decorating.  If you're not fond of carving pumpkins and getting your hands slimy, there are many other ways to embellish them.  You can use paint, glitter, fringe, tacks, and so much more.  Check out this great article that offers 65 different ways to decorate a pumpkin.  The ideas vary in complexity, including some that are perfect for young campers who might be traveling with you.  Make your campsite whimsical, fashionable, or fun!

FMCA is holding a pumpkin decorating contest on social media.  From October 1 through 25, submit your photos on our Facebook page or email them to marketing@fmca.com.  The winner will be announced on Friday, October 30.
