Grad Student's Aerospace Journey Propelled by Exclusive Fellowship
|
From a young age, Matteo Giacani exhibited a keen interest in building things, including small planes and rockets. His fascination with scientific subjects like mathematics and physics naturally led him to pursue an education in aerospace engineering. Fall 2023 marked the beginning of Giacani’s graduate journey at Georgia Tech. He is also the recipient of the exclusive Domenica Rea D’Onofrio Fellowship, which is only awarded to native Italian citizens.

| Funding Opportunity: JP Morgan P.h.D. Fellowship
|
The JPMC AI Research Ph.D. Fellowship program is intended to support novel and impactful thesis work of Ph.D. students and enables opportunities for Ph.D. students to engage with research professionals at JPMC. A JPMC Ph.D. Fellowship includes a yearly award that partially supports tuition and stipend. Student awardees will receive a connection in the JPMC AI Research team. Awardees are expected to commit to do a summer internship at JPMC. Students must be nominated by Georgia Tech via internal submission. The deadline to Submit an Application for Non-CoC students is March 11,2024.

The Google Ph.D. Fellowship Program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. Fellowships support promising Ph.D. candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology. Students must be nominated by Georgia Tech via internal submission. The deadline for Non-CoC students is April 22, 2024. The deadline for CoC students is April 15, 2024.

Uwill Mental Health Services
|
Tech students now have access to new mental health support services. The Institute has partnered with Uwill, a leader in collegiate mental health and wellness services, to provide additional resources at no cost to our students. Through Uwill, students will have access to Umatch, Up to 5 free virtual counseling sessions with a licensed therapist with no need for referral, and Urise, an on-demand curated wellness event to complement therapy.
All Georgia Tech students are eligible to use these benefits. Visit the Uwill website and register yourself as a new user with your @gatech.edu email address.

This year, the LGBTQIA Resource Center will feature unique programming and we honor and celebrate the Resource Center’s 10-year anniversary. Students who finished their degree programs in fall or winter of 2023 or who plan to graduate in 2024 (May, August, or December) are invited to participate in this event. We are excited to announce the new OMSCS Alumni Speaker Series as part of the program's 10th anniversary celebrations! This series highlights some of our amazing alumni as they share their expertise and experiences. Speakers will present on a variety of subjects from their careers, research, successes, challenges, and lessons learned. All events in the Alumni Speaker Series will be virtual and will take place on March 19 and March 26, 2024. Tuesday, March 19th series is entitled Maximizing the OMSCS Program for your Professional Career, led by Carlo Rafael Catalan. The presentation will show students how to get the most out of the OMSCS program for their professional growth.
