Walsh University Board Extends President Tim Collins’ Contract Through 2030 |
The Walsh University Board of Directors is pleased to announce the extension of Dr. Timothy J. Collins’ contract as President of Walsh University through June 30, 2030. This marks the second extension of Dr. Collins’ presidency, with his initial term previously extended to June 2027. The announcement was made by Board Chair Carol Miller ’93 during the October board meeting, underscoring the Board’s confidence in Dr. Collins’ leadership and vision for the University.

Important FAFSA Information for 2025–26 Academic Year |
The U.S. Department of Education has announced a delay in the release of the FAFSA for the 2025–26 academic year. Typically, available on October 1, the form will now be accessible no earlier than December 1 due to ongoing system improvements aimed at simplifying the process. A phased rollout will include testing with a limited group of students and institutions this month to ensure smoother functionality. Blouin Scholars to Host Virtual Conference on Human Trafficking: All are Invited |
The Walsh University 2025 Blouin Scholars will be hosting a virtual conference on Friday, October 25 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. as an extension of their three-year focus on human trafficking and exploitation. This will be a student-led conversation on community-engaged learning as well as an opportunity to hear faculty perspectives on the role of universities in their communities. In addition, Michael Sherman, guest lecturer from Carlow College St. Patrick’s in Ireland will be presenting on the role of universities in addressing social issues. Walsh University Awarded Grant to Enhance Campus Safety and Prevent Interpersonal Violence |
Walsh University has been awarded a $348,708 grant by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to support the Cavalier Safeguard Initiative 3.0. The funding will strengthen Walsh University’s proactive efforts to maintain a safe campus environment and continue implementing educational programs aimed at preventing domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The Walsh University community united in the spirit of service during the annual “Community Fall Fest,” hosted by Walsh University Cavathon and co-sponsored by Student Activities, raising funds for Akron Children’s Hospital while celebrating the season together. The event celebrated the beauty of fall while raising awareness for “Child Health Day,” featuring an evening filled with music, games, delicious food, and more. Attendees participated in various activities, using raffle tickets to enjoy games and treats, with all proceeds going directly to Akron Children’s Hospital.
Volunteers Needed Next Week: Walsh’s Aviation Program partner American Winds located at 1600 Tripplet Blvd in Akron, is seeking volunteers next week to sort through donated items which will be flown down to assist those in need as part of the North Carolina Hurricane Helene relief effort.
