Walsh University Names Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education |

Dr. Jacqueline Novak ’88, has been named the Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education. After a thorough selection process, she emerged as the ideal candidate to lead the School into its next chapter of academic excellence. Her wealth of experience and dedication to the University's mission make her well-suited for this pivotal role. Dr. Novak is poised to assume her permanent position as Dean, commencing her duties on Feb. 12. Read More

Walsh University Band Students Selected for OPCICA Honors Concert Band |
Six
Walsh University Band students: Ashli Snider, Megan Quinn, Josh Martin, Ally Sabol, David Maxwell, and Rochelle Leeper, were selected for the Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association (OPCICA) Honors Concert Band. They collaborated for a weekend with student musicians and Band Directors from across Ohio and performed a concert which was the culminating event for the January 2024 Festival, hosted this year by the University of Findlay.
The 2024 OPCICA Festival was created and organized by Walsh University Professor Thomas Roblee, who is President of the Association. OPCICA comprises over twenty private colleges and universities in Ohio. Its purpose is to develop a closer network of communication and collaboration among music departments of privately funded member institutions of higher education.

Lil Sibs Weekend 2024: Monsters WU will be held Feb. 16-17, and is open to all siblings of Walsh students. Invite your sibling(s) to spend the night with you on campus and participate in various activities including a movie, cereal bar, games, raffles and more! Ash Wednesday Will Be Observed with Two Holy Masses Feb. 14 |
Ash Wednesday will be observed with two Holy Masses held by the Chaplaincy and Campus Ministry in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel on Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Ashes will be distributed at both masses, marking the beginning of Lent—a period of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving in preparation for Easter. All members of the Walsh campus are welcome, and everyone is invited to receive ashes. Holy Communion is reserved for practicing Catholics. Please note: The usual Ignite meeting in the chapel at 8:00 p.m. will be canceled on this day.

President Tim Collins met with Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason, who currently serves as Ireland's 19
th Ambassador to the United States, during his visit to Washington D.C. They discussed Walsh University’s Global Learning partnership with Carlow College, St. Patrick’s. Ambassador Byrne Nason has a distinguished career in diplomacy, having previously spent five years as Ireland's Ambassador to the United Nations and served on the Security Council as an elected member before assuming her current role.

In a momentous occasion,
Veterans Affairs Coordinator Joshua Ruiz, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, had the distinct honor of pinning a Marine who previously served under his direction, during a promotion ceremony at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, VA. Sonita Cragwick, who joined the Marine Corps in May of 2013, was promoted from the rank of Gunnery Sergeant to Warrant Officer on Feb. 1. She now stands as the epitome of leadership within her Military Occupational Specialty.

Members of the
Walsh University Chorale performed on Friday, Feb. 2, for the First Friday Club of Akron. In addition to the club members, there were students in attendance from Hoban, St. Vincent-St. Mary, Our Lady of the Elms, and Walsh Jesuit High Schools. The event was held at Our Lady of the Cedars in Fairlawn.

Congratulations to
Associate Professor Dr. Karen Stock on the publication of her recent article in the Management Teaching Review, alongside her esteemed colleague, Steven Edelson. Since 2019, Dr. Stock has been utilizing the X-Culture project in her in-person BUS 360 Cross-Cultural Management courses. This article provides insight as to how the project can be utilized when teaching management courses.
