Blue New Mexico Vases

A couple of weeks ago, Josh made a small collection of Blue New Mexico vases that are more round than tall, with vibrant Corona glass interiors and delightful "flipped" lips. Why round instead of tall? As usual, we have no idea what motivates him. Maybe the annealing oven shelves were set up for bowls and platters but then Josh felt like making vases instead. In any case, several of these - along with some tall ones too - now appear in our online gallery .

Blue New Mexico Vases

A couple of decades ago, Josh made a collection of dramatic New Mexico "Megavases," some as tall as 24" and weighing up to 20 lbs. It was quite a feat simply to control the molten glass, let alone to shape it into a beautiful vessel. Many of these majestic pieces have appeared in past Simpson Glass exhibitions. A few may now be found in the Vintage Simpson page of our website.
