Connection Through Understanding
Our Generation Connect service camp held in June at A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods was a big hit! Offered in partnership with Pebble Tossers—a youth development nonprofit organization—the week-long camp gave elders and teens a unique opportunity to build and strengthen connections between their generations.
Throughout the week, teens gained a greater appreciation of aging-related issues, they conducted oral histories with elders to learn more about their pasts, and teens and elders bonded during various activities. Teens also explored careers in the long-term services and support (LTSS) field and even took a Virtual Dementia Tour. But the fun didn't stop there! Teens and elders toured Truist Park and wrapped up the week with a heartwarming celebration where teens shared stories and memories from the elders.

A Special Birthday Party
On July 18, residents and staff at A.G. Rhodes Atlanta held a 120th birthday party for A.G. Rhodes! It was on this day in 1904 that the organization's flagship location opened at the corner of Boulevard and Woodard where it still operates today. We marked the day with lunch, cake, and a Proclamation from the City of Atlanta "Celebrating 120 Years of Excellence in Senior Care by A.G. Rhodes."

Let's Dance!

A group of A.G. Rhodes residents and staff recently participated in the TADA Foundation's Spring dance recital thanks to our partnership with the Foundation's Positive Motion Seniors Program. Our residents and activity staff have such a great time attending weekly dance classes and we're grateful for all the friendships we have made. Watch the video on Instagram to see a clip of the performance.

A Giving Spirit

Employee Spotlight: Valerie Moffett, LPN
Day Shift Nursing Supervisor, A.G. Rhodes Wesley Woods
Growing up, Valerie Moffett watched her mom care for others, and she knew she was going to follow a similar path.

“My mother was a CNA for decades,” Valerie said. “I’ve always been a nurturer. I’ve always had a giving spirit; I’ve known this is what I’m supposed to be doing.”

Summer Fun!

We have certainly made the most of the summer here at A.G. Rhodes. Our latest fun activities included celebrating the July 4th holiday, Olympics-themed games & activities, and harvesting potatoes grown during Horticultural Therapy (and then cooking and eating them!)
We also went on a special outing downtown to spend time with teens from all over the country who were in Atlanta for the Boys & Girls Club Keystone national conference. Thank you to the Boys & GIrls Club and the teen volunteers for including us in your day of service. We had the best time hanging out with the teens as we worked on the craft activity. And we are immensely grateful for the donation of 49 newly assembled wheelchairs for our homes!

Ms. GHCA Pageant

Congratulations to Ms. Linda Wangrow, Ms. A.G. Rhodes 2024, for being selected as a semi-finalist at the statewide Ms. Georgia Health Care Association Pageant in Macon! While she didn't bring home the crown, we had the best day with her and her family giving her the royal treatment. Thank you, Ms. Wangrow, for representing A.G. Rhodes and the Cobb community so well!

Team Updates & Accolades
We're delighted to welcome new team members to A.G. Rhodes! See our latest staff updates. And here's what a family member has to say about their grandmother's care at A.G. Rhodes!

"This facility is absolutely top-notch. You will not find better care for your loved one. Every single staff member goes above and beyond. My family, and especially my grandmother, are forever grateful for this facility! We know firsthand that not all Nursing facilities are created equally! It can be scary and frustrating when you don’t think your loved one is getting the care they deserve. You will NOT have to worry if you choose A.G. Rhodes...."
