Please familiarize yourself with basic requirements, protocols, and best practices about being on campus and consult the most essential guidance in the Being on Campus FAQ for Spring 2022.
Note: Guidance regarding in-person activity may be different for students on the St. Thomas Aquinas College and Sarah Lawrence College campuses. Questions can be directed to Coordinator of the Rockland and Westchester Campuses, Dr. Aminda Heckman.
Here are a few key reminders:
→ Masks: A reminder that the
University has updated its mask guidelines, which include wearing KN95 or N95 masks, or double-masking (surgical with cloth) while on campus; the University has surgical masks available at Campus Safety desks across campus.
NYU Silver has a limited quantity of authentic and NYU-approved KN95 masks for distribution to members of the School community (faculty, staff, and students), and you are encouraged to pick one up if you haven’t already. Our aim is to prioritize Silver community members with financial and/or other limitations, and distribution of masks will be on an honor system.
Here is more information regarding mask distribution at the Washington Square, Rockland, and Westchester campuses.
Should students experience any issues around non-compliance and need guidance on reporting, please consult NYU’s non-compliance resources, and/or reach out to
Courtney O’Mealley, Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
→ Eating and Drinking: With the new easing of restrictions, the University’s general guidance is that
indoor eating should be minimized, with outdoor eating as a default when possible, and otherwise happening only in designated areas and for very limited periods of time. Please refer to the
University’s protocols. As the semester progresses we hope to give students access to Room G13 at 1 WSN, which is currently set up as a “designated eating area” for NYU Silver staff. In the meantime, the University has provided a
Google map of indoor eating spaces open to all NYU community members.
→ Events and Gatherings: As noted above, events and gatherings have resumed at Silver, but where possible, groups should continue to focus on engaging virtual events and activities. Please refer to the
University’s general guidelines for events and gatherings.
