NJIT was accepted into the National Science Foundation’s new CyberAI Scholarships-for-Service program, which modernizes and adds AI components to the prior program that was called CyberCorps. NJIT is one of just 14 colleges nationwide, and the only one in New Jersey, accepted into the new federal initiative. The program offers full scholarships in exchange for federal government service after graduation.

In a study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, a research team led by NJIT faculty and students along with collaborators from Princeton University and NASA’s Ames Research Center, reports an artificial intelligence model, called EarlyDetect, that can identify precursor signals of active region emergence in the Sun's acoustic activity and magnetic field.

Professor Jason Wang Receives NSF Grant to Support CAIG |
We commend Prof. Jason Wang on receiving a new NSF grant to support his project "Collaborative Research: CAIG: AI-Enabled, Physics-Aware, Explainable Forecasting of Thermospheric Density with Uncertainty Quantification." The work focuses on the impacts of solar eruptions on Earth and takes into account the travel/transit time of solar eruptions from the Sun to Earth. His earlier NSF funded grant researched predicting solar eruptions on the Sun.

Congratulations to Ph.D. candidate Chun Jie Chong and his advisor, Assistant Professor Zhihao "Zephyr" Yao, for winning the Best Paper Award at ACM REP 2026 for "Measuring Reproducibility in LLM Research: A Rubric and Cross-Topic Corpus Study." This work explored a very timely, real-world challenge, as Large Language Models (LLMs) are rapidly adopted, in making sure that AI software research is actually reproducible and trustworthy.
