New Blog: Mobile Tech: An Answer to Gender-Based Violence?
New guest entry on GWI blog from Sarah Dickins and Naomi Mwaura! ‘Report It! Stop It!’ is a free app by the Flone Initiative for anyone who survives or sees violence to share their experiences in Kenya.
By allowing users to pin incidents on a geomap of public transport routes, providers and related spaces, the app visually tracks the hotspots of violence across Kenya so that individuals can make safer travel choices. Another objective of the app is to inform public policy-makers, think tanks and other civil society partners on GBV trends across Kenya, with a view to shape more effective laws, policies and interventions nationwide.
