When Students Lead, Prevention Works |
|
|
1.63 million U.S. students are still using e-cigarettes.
What’s become clear is that prevention isn’t just about delivering information. It’s about shifting peer-group social norms. On May 12th, we’re hosting a short webinar on how districts are using our CATCH My Breath Students-Teach-Students Model to influence vaping behavior at scale.
You'll take away insights from: a public health leader coordinating state-wide prevention education, a community health partner implementing locally, and high school students who have successfully used the model to guide middle school students.

Statewide Prevention Success |

A recent evaluation was published by PubMed assessing the first two years of West Virginia's statewide implementation of CATCH My Breath. Notably, across two years over 13,000 students participated from 94 schools across 39 counties, and at least 1 trained educator was present in all 55 counties. Conclusions showed substantial knowledge gains and high student acceptability.

CAlfresh healthy living
A federal bill signed in 2025 ended funding for SNAP-Ed programs nationwide, resulting in the closure of CalFresh Healthy Living by June 2026. We take this moment to honor the incredible legacy of the largest nutrition education program in the United States. Serving as a vital lifeline for California’s educators and youth, their dedication to building healthier communities has left an indelible mark on countless schools. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and the profound impact they’ve made on the lives of students across the state.
