Happy February, leaders! Hold on tight cause I have lots to share with you!!

Texas PTA advocates year-round, but we bring it in February! This month we will be hosting our Straight Talk event on February 12th at 12:00 p.m. Straight Talk this year is about navigating the smartphone era. This event will be live-streamed and will feature top-notch panelists discussing how smartphones are impacting our children's minds, bodies, and classrooms. You do not want to miss it!

Now is the perfect time to build up your student PTA members! Here's what you need to do to earn this special award:

≡  Recruit 12 student members

≡  Encourage them to sign the Straight Talk pledge

≡  Upload/mail your rosters and dues

≡  Submit your award form

Students do not need to sign the pledge to qualify. Students joining through JoinPTA.org are automatically submitted. Award forms and mailed rosters must be received by the Texas PTA office by February 12th at 12:00 p.m.

Next up, let's talk about this month’s award. February is the XOXO Award.

Share the love of PTA with 14 new members this month and submit your roster in office by February 29th. 

- Many schools will be doing friendship parties and that’s a great opportunity to recruit those parents who will be attending the festivities! Have a table ready to recruit members and maybe give them a candy treat for joining! 

- Consider sending your student members a candy gram from the PTA. This will help student members feel appreciated and special! Which will help create that engagement needed to keep your members coming back next year.

Did you know that Texas PTA offers some amazing free programs that your PTA can present at a membership meeting, workroom day, PTA Q&A event, etc?

Our VP Programs & Resources Melinda Samberson and her committee have done an amazing job of making sure we are bringing relevant programs for you to use with your community.

Do not forget that you can apply for the Special Category awards up until March 31st. So make sure you take a look and see which ones your PTA qualifies for and apply.

You have plenty of time to work on the ones you want to achieve before the deadline so now's the time! 

Lastly, each year, Texas PTA accepts nominations for our Lead Like Marni Award to recognize deserving leaders from elementary, secondary, and council PTAs.

Do know a remarkable leader? Nominate them before April 1st, and they just might be one of our amazing leaders chosen to be recognized at LAUNCH 2024!
