The holiday season is upon us! With Halloween behind us and Thanksgiving right around the corner, we're approaching the most wonderful time of the year!
EDL 218:
Leadership Development
What: Spring registration is approaching! EDL 218, Leadership Development, is a highly interactive leadership course that uses an innovative approach and hands-on activities to examine leadership. The course is based on the "Know, See, Plan, Do" approach to leadership. The capstone experience in the course is the participation of two teams in the Collegiate Leadership Competition which is being hosted at Miami on April 21st. Class participants will either be teammates or coaches in this engaging and fun event that will pit Miami against other schools from across the region.

Who: Open to everyone registering for classes in the spring!

When: Spring 2018 semester
Lessons in Leadership:
What Does It Mean to Be a Leader in the Oxford ComMunity?
What: Interactive discussion about community-based leadership in the intertwined Oxford and Miami communities with Jen O'Brien, Director of Off-Campus Outreach and Communication, and Lisa Combs, Graduate Assistant in the Office of Community Engagement & Service!

Who: Open to everyone!

Where: Armstrong 2080

When: Tuesday, November 7th, from 6:00-7:30pm

Wilks Signature Workshop: 
Character & Responsibility
What: A long workshop with a focus on character and responsibility and how to use your leadership power to work towards goals. Come join SLCs Rachel and Steven in an interactive activity to learn more!

Who: Open to everyone!

Where: Armstrong 1066

When: Sunday, November 12th, 1:00–4:30pm

Apply to be a Student Leadership Coordinator and join our team of superheroes!
Our lovely Student Leadership Coordinator Rachel is studying abroad in the spring, so Wilks is seeking a new SLC for the spring semester! 

The SLC role is a one-semester position with opportunities to continue employment for additional academic years. Each SLC staff member will be assigned to multiple project areas within the office and can expect to work approximately 8-12 hours per week in the Wilks Leadership Institute (109 Warfield Hall). These hours will be determined by the amount of work to be done and the SLC’s academic course schedule. The SLC position will start on January 29th, 2018.

What: A short workshop with a focus on reflection of your personal leadership journey. Whether your leadership journey is lengthy or has just begun, come join SLCs Grace and Rachel in an interactive activity to learn more!

Who: Open to everyone!

When: Wednesday, November 15th, from 6:00–7:30pm

What: A short workshop with a focus on motivating your team members to work towards a common goal. Come join SLCs Madeline and Kayla in an interactive activity to learn more!

Apply to be a Site Leader for Alternative Spring Break!


The Office of Community Engagement and Service is looking for students to serve as Site Leaders for their multi-day immersion experiences focused on local and non-local communities during spring break.

Site Leaders are responsible for planning and facilitating student learning, so it's a great way to practice your leadership skills!

If you are passionate about community needs and you are looking for an opportunity to lead your peers in service,
apply here by November 5th to be eligible.

6th Annual Multicultural Leadership Conference


Join the Office of Diversity Affairs in attending the Multicultural Student Leadership Conference on Saturday, December 2nd, from 11:00am-5:00pm.

 This year's theme is "Crossing Borders: Global Leadership and Inclusion."

The conference is student-led and aims to increase intercultural awareness, develop leadership skills, and introduce resources and connections.
