Plans for Goldsmith-Schiffman Field
Council Member David Little enjoyed meeting with residents at the District 2 Public Meeting at the Optimist Recreation Center to discuss plans for Goldsmith-Schiffman Field on Beirne Avenue near Five Points. Those plans include transforming the longtime high school football stadium into a welcoming neighborhood park featuring two flag football fields and two pickleball courts. There will also be a pavilion with bathroom facilities to accommodate small social events and a strategic plan to preserve the field’s history with parts of its stone wall remaining in place.

'Special Challenges' for Monte Sano Fire Station
Huntsville Fire & Rescue (HFR) operates 20 stations across the city but Station 4 in District 2 atop Monte Sano receives calls perhaps unlike any other station. With its proximity to Monte Sano State Park, Station 4 at 911 Monte Sano Blvd. SE frequently responds to distress calls involving mountain hikers who are lost or injured. And during the winter, roads on Monte Sano may be more treacherous due to snow and ice than other parts of the city. Check out the video to learn more about Station 4.
