RVR History Trail Set to Open
The long-awaited RVR History Trail is ready for its unveiling. This week, the installation got underway on a series of signs that describe the multi-century journey that resulted in the RVR you know today. The RVR History Trail is a 2.7-mile loop that includes ten 21” x 28” descriptive panels mounted along a walking path through the RVR community.
The RVR Master Association has worked closely with the Carbondale Historical Society to create this unique outdoor classroom.
A grand opening kickoff event will take place Sunday, Oct. 10. The event is designed for school-age kids and their parents. It will be a walking tour, led by Historical Society vice president Sue Gray, who developed much of the content for the trail and is a walking encyclopedia of Carbondale history. The tour begins in Orchard Park at 10 am. Click HERE if you’d like to reserve a spot in this historical event.
Those who participate in this grand opening event are invited to a rare tour of the Thompson House Museum, which will follow the History Trail tour.
