Food is a necessity; for fuel, for nutrition and for full bellies! Unfortunately, not all kids have enough food. Once a student leaves school on Friday they may miss up to seven meals before they return to school on Monday for breakfast. In response to this, TrueNorth partners with area schools to distribute weekend nutrition in the form of Weekend PowerPacks. Each Weekend PowerPack consists of kid-friendly, shelf stable pre-packaged foods such as protein, nuts, cereal, pudding, soup, fruit, granola bars, microwaveable meals, snacks and/or other items. This fuel is crucial to the success of local kids.
The Weekend PowerPack program resonated with John and Molly Wolff. They, along with their 3 children, wanted to support the efforts of the program both financially and through volunteerism. The Wolff Family made a financial gift in memory of John’s mother Inez, a long-time teacher at Grant Primary School, who passed away in November 2019. To instill empathy and the importance of giving back in their children, the family also assembled snack packs including items such as granola bars, beef jerky, fruit snacks, and trail mix to be included in the Weekend PowerPacks. This support helps further TrueNorth’s Hunger Prevention efforts. If you want to make a difference in the life of a child, like The Wolff Family, consider making a gift today.
