With just over a week to go until the start of the fall semester, we're here to provide answers to frequently asked questions, access to resources and student services for all students, and other helpful information. Keep an eye out on your inbox all next week to make sure you're prepped and ready for a successful start to this fall semester.
We kick this series off with answers to some frequently asked questions:

I have a general question and am not sure where to turn for an answer. Is there a specific place I can go to ask it?
Yes! The Virtual Welcome Center is available to answer general questions, help you register for classes, help you navigate myGateway and Canvas, assist with troubleshooting issues and concerns, and put you in touch with other individuals and offices for more specific questions and answers. It is available:
- Monday, August 16 - Friday, August 20, at 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

I have a specific registration question (prerequisites, which classes to take, etc.) and would like some assistance. Who can I talk to?
The best person to talk to would be a counselor, available for virtual walk-in meetings through the Express Counseling Lobby:
- Monday, August 16 - Friday, August 20, at 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.

I'm signed up for fall classes. How do I know what textbooks I need, and where do I get them?
The Cypress College Bookstore is a one-stop shop for textbooks and other course materials. To find out what textbooks are required for your courses, go to the Bookstore textbook search here. Make sure the term is listed as "Fall 2021." Now choose the department, course, and section that match your course (e.g. if you're taking ENGL 100, CRN: 10122, search department ENGL; course 100 C; and section 10122). Do this for as many courses as you want, then click "Find Materials for # Course(s)." A list of all your courses and their required and/or recommended materials, or important notes about your course materials, will appear.
The Cypress College Bookstore is open:
- Monday, August 16 – Thursday, August 19, at 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Friday, August 20, at 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

I still plan to register for a class. How do I know which classes are open?
An open class list is available here. Some classes may have a waitlist you can join; however, please know that waitlists expire at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 22. For more information about waitlists and your suggested course of action this close to the start of the semester, please see the question below.

I'm on a waitlist or want to add a class with a closed waitlist. What do I do?
If you are on a waitlist, please email your instructor right away to receive guidance on how you might be able to access the class once the course begins. To contact your instructor, please go to our Campus Directory here, and locate and email the instructor about providing an add code or direction for accessing the course the first week of the course (some courses have different start times in the fall 2021 semester).
If a course you'd like to take has a full waitlist, you may try to reach out to the instructor; however, we strongly advise that you find an open course instead.
