As the month draws to a close, we're heading into summer with momentum, energy and plenty to look forward to.
Parks are busy, pools are opening and projects are progressing. The event calendar is filling and I suspect neighbors are making the most of longer days and warmer evenings.
Normal LIVE kicks off May 27! Come to Uptown Normal and enjoy the free concerts at Uptown Circle.

Here’s to finishing May strong and kicking off a fun, active and memorable summer season together! As a reminder, Town of Normal offices will be closed Monday, May 25 in honor of Memorial Day.

On May 18, the Normal Town Council took the following actions:
|
- Recommended approval of Harmon Arts Grant Awards - these will be presented to recipients in June.
- Awarded a contract for the 2026 repairs and maintenance of aging bridges and culverts, work essential to preserving the safety, reliability and functionality of the Town’s critical transportation infrastructure
- Took several actions on the proposed construction of the Underpass Project at Uptown Station, including:

Extending the date for the sale of bonds originally approved by the Normal Town Council in November 2025
- Executed a joint funding agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for Phase III Construction Engineering Services of the effort
- Amended an agreement with Lumen Technologies, Inc. to relocate Telecommunication facilities
- Awarded a contract to P.J. Hoerr, Inc. for construction
- Established a moratorium through Nov. 30, 2026 on data center facilities to allow the Town the opportunity to review and propose comprehensive regulations for data centers best suited for the community

The Town of Normal Cultural Arts and Parks & Recreation Departments coordinate programming and events for the community to enjoy.
