Central Labor Council and United Way Team Up to Help Working Families

The Harrisburg Region Central Labor Council (CLC) and United Way of the Capital Region have teamed up with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to help address hunger in our community.

On Saturday May 5, labor volunteers circulated flyers to customers at Weis Super Market in Newport, Perry County. The flyers provided information on hunger and where people in need could go to get assistance.

On Saturday, June 16 from 9-11 a.m. the Central Labor Council community services committee will host a “cooking on a budget” class at the Central Pennsylvania Foodbank in Harrisburg. If you would like to join us, send an e-mail with your name, phone number, e-mail and your local to Pat Vought at votet@msn.com. Space is limited and will be on a first come first serve basis.

If you or your local are interested in volunteering for projects that help our neighbors in need, contact Dave Madsen, United Way of the Capital Region labor liaison, at dmadsen@uwcr.org or 717.724.4060.

Union members enjoy the 2017 Labor/United Way Kickoff event.
