Happy August, Eagle Families!
We are counting down to welcoming you to campus! New Student Orientation is gearing up to start on August 20 and Parent & Family Orientation registration is filling quickly, but we cannot wait to see first year and transfer families on campus in a few weeks!
This week we include notices about orientations, a part-time employment fair, student voting in this year's presidential election, and reminders about local hotel information, immunization records, summer reading, billing, health insurance and welcome events, and a new article from the American magazine.

Parent/Family Orientation |
Parent & Family Orientation registration is filling quickly! While we won't have space for everyone, we look forward to seeing parents and supporters who can attend, and we will send an overview of the information presented to all first-year and transfer families.
Due to space limitations, each family is allowed up to two attendees, and each person must register individually.
🗝️And as you are planning travel and accommodations near campus, please view local hotel information here.

| 📍 Welcome to AU, transfer families!
We've planned some special transfer-specific events for Orientation, so remind your student to keep an eye out for details in the Orientation schedule.
Also, be sure they are enrolled in the transfer section of AUx (CORE-196), where they will connect with other transfer students who are navigating the same transition. Welcome, Eagles!
Please contact Diane Palmer, Coordinator of Transfer Student Success, with any questions.

The Part-Time Employment Job Fair on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, 1:00-3:30pm in the MGC Tavern is an opportunity for them! Students will engage with on-campus departments hiring for both FWS-eligible positions and non-FWS positions and off-campus organizations hiring for paid part-time roles. Students register for the fair on Handshake and can contact the event lead Oliver Ruiz-Gomez at oruizgomez@american.edu with any questions.

📋It's an election year! Did you know students can vote by absentee ballot? The process differs by state (e.g., some states require that students complete a form in person before they leave for school). Library staff works to ensure students know about the processes and can assist them.
