Wednesday Night Adult Study:
The Means of Grace
(How United Methodists DO Discipleship)
The Bible tells us that Jesus’ followers are called disciples. If we want to be counted among those followers, then doesn’t it make sense that we figure out just what being a disciple looks like in everyday life?
In The Means of Grace, Andrew C. Thompson presents a clear and accessible explanation of the core tenets John Wesley instilled in the early Methodist movement—baptism, searching the scriptures, prayer, The Lord’s Supper, fasting, fellowship, accountability, works of mercy, and exercising the presence of God. Each means of grace is drawn from biblical examples and paired with a framework to offer a real, practical model for a life marked by Holy love and Holy transformation.
Wesley had a phrase for what it means to live faithfully as a disciple of Jesus: walking in the ways of GodThe practices and habits explained in The Means of Grace demonstrate a Wesleyan pattern of discipleship and help us understand what these ways of God are.
Please let the office know if you want to purchase the soft-cover book to complement the class.  The cost of the book is $22.  Though the book is recommended, reading the book is not required to participate in the class.
We are so excited and grateful that His Kitchen will help to support the mission team going to Costa Rica with their casserole profits.  WOW!  The menu is already up to place your orders for pick-up this Monday, January 16th: PLEASE SHARE THIS LINK WITH OTHERS!  Help us spread the word - the more casseroles we sell, the more ministries we can support.  It will also help if you will like and share the His Kitchen Facebook Page.
Let 2017 be the year you commit to a Sunday School Class!
Each week, our children up through the 5th grade gather to sing, hear Bible stories, and learn how to be more like Jesus!  Our youth, beginning with 6th grade, have a dynamite program that includes Bible study, small group discussions, service, and FUN!
Adults may choose from the Bridges class, studying the book, "Lord, Change My Attitude", by James MacDonald. They meet in room 201 of the  Education Building, led by Shelley Powers.
Fellowship class continues its study of the entire Bible, book by book. Join this committed group, led by John Christopher, as they continue their study with the book of Luke.  Meets in room 202, Education Building.
Grace class is reading "The Great Spiritual Migration", a thought-provoking book by Brian McLaren. Lively and stimulating discussion is facilitated by Harry Gilmer.  Meets in room 203, Education Building.
Hope class is studying of the book of James.  Led by Debbie Burson, Hope is using the classroom inside the church office.
Discovery class, (Charles Guess, room 108), Open Doors class, (Brandon Jones, sanctuary), and Pathfinders class, (self-led in the Parlor), all work their classes around the Uniform Series International Bible Lesson, but each class has a slightly different approach.
You may need to visit them all to find the one that feels most like home to you, and best helps guide you to welcome, grow, serve and celebrate with your Parkway Hills family in 2017!
You've Got Mail!
This Sunday, we begin a sermon series studying the letters of Paul to the church in  Corinth. Join us to learn if Paul has a few things to say to the church in Madison, too!
