Giving to United Way is down and the need is great 

United Way funds 26 local nonprofits through its annual campaign to which faculty and staff contribute. “The campaign is about sustaining our nonprofit partners and helping make them whole and to be able to continue operating the same programs they were pre-COVID,” Jensen said. "So many sources of revenue have decreased drastically while costs have increased drastically.” While donations are down this year, it's not too late to give. (More...)

Global warming likely to increase disease risk for animals 

Changes in climate can increase infectious disease in animals, researchers found — with the possibility that these diseases could spread to humans. The study, conducted by scientists at Notre Dame, University of South Florida and University of Wisconsin-Madison, supports the theory that the greatest risk in cold climate-adapted animals occurs as temperatures rise, while the risk for those in warmer climates occurs as temperatures fall. Procurement Services and the Office of General Counsel announce the addition of contractsND, an easy-to-use University contract system that debuts Monday, Dec. 14. With contractsND, all contracts will be digitized and stored in a central repository, providing a way for stakeholders to search for and review various University contracts.
