Operation Gratitude Candy Drive

This week, the Student Leadership Board is collecting candy to send to active military, veterans, and first responders through Operation Gratitude. Last year, Valor students contributed over 2 tons of candy!
Bring candy to school from October 28 - November 4 to contribute to this year's drive.

DECA Launches a New Season

Valor students recently competed in the year's first competition for DECA, a student business club. Students compete strategically in areas like marketing, finance, hospitality, and more.
Our DECA team finished in 2nd place in their first competition of the year! Team leader Dave Haar says, "The students had some really strong points and they also found some areas where they need to work on. A lot of the younger kids saw how the business role-plays work, and enjoyed their experience. It will be a fun year to watch these kids grow in their business skills."

Thank You, Parents!

A BIG thank you to our Valor Parent Community for providing staff and faculty with a great breakfast last Thursday morning. The food was delicious and we felt loved after a long Explore Valor day and snowstorm.
We appreciate you so much!

Discovery Service Hours

Discovery Experience applications are under review! Students who applied but do not have the required number of service hours will be notified via email.

FAFSA Completion Workshop

Academic and College Counseling is hosting a FAFSA Completion Workshop on November 6 and 8 for senior families who would like assistance completing this financial aid application. FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is used by all post-secondary institutions receiving federal aid and even many outside of the country.
If needed, parents are welcome to bring in their 2018 tax forms and we will help complete the application fully. Before coming, please make sure both parent and student create an FSA ID. Students should NOT use their Valor email addresses. In addition, both should have access to their Social Security number and driver's license number.
Please sign up here to attend the workshop. You may contact Jay McCann with questions.

Marriage Enrichment Seminar

On November 16 from 8:30 am-12:30 pm, Valor Parent Community hosts its first marriage enrichment seminar. Come with your spouse to learn tips on strengthening your marriage with Drs. Britton and Bobbye Wood.
The cost is $5 at the door to cover the cost of the workbook. Contact Teresa Kozan with questions.

To do so, click on the "request transcripts" link found on your "Colleges I'm Applying To" list on Naviance Student. Be sure to click on “initial transcript” on the next page that comes up, then pick the colleges you want to send it to. Please request these at least 5 days prior to your deadline or the date you are aiming to have them delivered in time.
