Staff Spotlight

Regan McGahen, Watershed Management Unit

About Regan

Regan works in the Watershed Management Unit with the Division of Water Resources (DWR) at TDEC. Her background is in biology, which led her to an internship in water resources. She been with the division ever since.

Education Connection
“People often ignore simple things, like a storm drain,” says Regan. Part of her job is to help people pay attention to these small but critical elements of our local water systems by coordinating outreach events in each of Tennessee’s 55 watersheds. She provides support to DWR field office staff who are able to exhibit at local events. They’ll set up educational booths and talk to folks about the resources in the watershed where they live and play. The staff often collect critters from local streams in order to help teach citizens about water quality and what they can do to help protect and improve the water resources in their area. Her office also advertises stream clean-up and other volunteer events.
