Grantee Highlight: Martinsville-Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness
The Board of Directors at the Martinsville-Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness announced the appointment of Marcus Stone as their new executive director this month, succeeding Barbara Jackman, founder of the organization.
“The Coalition Board of Directors welcomes our new Executive Director, Marcus Stone”, said James Hyler, President of the Coalition Board of Directors. “Marcus is an experienced leader and accomplished healthcare professional who is also a lifelong area resident. Marcus understands our local healthcare needs and challenges and this knowledge, combined with his leadership skills and abilities, will serve him well in directing the Coalition’s efforts to continue providing quality services to our patients in an ever-changing healthcare environment.”
Stone comes to the Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness from Sovah Health – Martinsville with nearly ten years of healthcare experience. At Sovah Health – Martinsville, he most recently served as Market Director of Education. Additionally, he served as Director of Emergency Services and Director of Nursing Strategic Operations and Education.
“I am thrilled to be joining such a great organization in the Martinsville-Henry County community,” Stone said. “And I am looking forward to partnering with the Board, staff, and the community in providing comprehensive medical care that aligns with the needs of the patients that we are privileged to serve.”
In Stone’s new role, he will work closely with the Board of Directors and be responsible for the overall leadership, operational, and financial performance, as well as coordinating the strategic direction of the organization. Stone holds a Master of Business degree from Liberty University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Bridgewater College and his Associate's degree in Nursing from Patrick Henry Community College. Stone is a native of Martinsville/Henry County. He is also a member of the Bassett Rescue Squad and serves on their Board of Directors. Additionally, Stone also serves on the Board of Directors for Henry County Public Service Authority and United Way of Martinsville and Henry County.
