making an impact  locally, regionally and nationally.
Please enjoy the following stories.
Her business card reads “Dr. Deborah Smith Pollard.” Her students refer to her as “Professor.” But to her league of radio listeners across southeast Michigan, she’s “Dr. Deb.”
She has taught English at University of Michigan-Dearborn since 1995, but she’s more affectionately known as the host/producer of Rhythm and Praise with Deborah Smith Pollard, a contemporary gospel music program.
Joe Miszcak represents Saudi Arabia during the Model Arab League conference.
Thirteen years in a row, University of Michigan-Dearborn political science Professor Ron Stockton has led a team of students to compete in Model Arab League. And every year, his teams have left the competition with the top prize.

Bonnie Halloran, lecturer II in anthropology, recently spoke with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan about the development of a new federal ratings system for colleges. Halloran was part of a delegation of American Federation of Teachers (AFT) members from across the country to meet with the secretary in Washington, D.C., January 23.
UM-Dearborn student Djenaba Niemi (second from right) and volunteers with Feed the People receive the Spirit of Detroit award from the Detroit City Council.
John DeLucia comes from a long line of military. His mother served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force. His father did four years in the U.S. Navy. And his brother toured Iraq with the U.S. Marine Corps.
“I’ve always been interested in warfare and things involving the military,” DeLucia said. That’s what prompted him to enroll in University of Michigan-Dearborn’s History 390: History of Modern Warfare course, as taught by lecturer Jamie Wraight.
It’s not your typical assignment. Then again, it’s not your typical course. That’s the idea behind French 334: Workshop in French Theater.
Gabriella Eschrich has taught the course at University of Michigan-Dearborn for 14 years, and with each semester comes a similar assignment.
