Community Center Renovation Update: New Temporary Entrance

Phase 2 of the Community Center was completed and turned over for use on May 11. Phase 2 work included converting the fitness/cardio room into a new community meeting room/youth program space, converting an office into a new breakroom, creating a new lobby area, creating a dedicated janitor closet for the upper level and a fresh coat of paint in the Dakota Room. The final phase (Phase 3) of the renovation project includes renovation of the main entrance (shown in the photo) as well as the front desk and office areas. For the next few weeks, the Dakota Room, which is located on the back/north side of the building, will be the temporary entrance and check-in for users until Phase 3 is completed toward the middle of June. Signs are posted at the facility to help users find the temporary entrance.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Noon at Veterans Monument

Residents are invited to visit the Veterans Monument at Ken-Caryl Ranch on Memorial Day, May 30 at noon for a special ceremony to honor our local heroes. The Ken-Caryl Veterans Community Allies Group will be laying a wreath in honor of all those who have served this great country. There will also be bubbles and cookies for the kiddos. The monument is located at the southeast corner of Crestone Mountain and Sangre de Cristo Road in Community Park.

Pools Open May 28

The pools officially open Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. There will be some exciting new features for this season thanks to the bond projects and some grant funding. Be sure to visit the Community Center to check out the new splash pad. At the Ranch House, we will have two bathrooms accessible from outside so swimmers no longer need to venture into the building. There will be a new pool entrance and check-in building on the south side of the pool as well. We will no longer use the Finger Vein Scanner. Residents will be issued a keychain card that can be scanned for pool entrance. Stop by the Ranch House or Community Center to validate your residency and get your keychain card. See our website for Pool Hours or Summer Swim Pass information.

Damage to Rock Wall at Entrance to the Valley

There was a motor vehicle crash on Saturday at the entrance to the Valley just off C-470. The crash caused damage to the rock wall on the median. An insurance claim will be filed with the responsible party's insurance, and the wall will be repaired as soon as possible.

Update on Massey Draw Stream Stabilization Project

Construction of the drainageway improvement project on Massey Draw along the east side of the Ken-Caryl Community Center is now complete. Seeding and installation of additional sediment and erosion control features were finished in the past month. The recent moisture will help to insure that the new seed germinates and grasses grow quickly to help stabilize the bare ground. The nearly $500,000 cost of the project was funded entirely by Master Association dues.
