What’s the Difference Between Regular Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy?
Bluetooth Low Energy (AKA Bluetooth 4.0 and BLE), is a low power variation of original traditional BT standard. For mobile to mobile communication this allows for longer battery option for the exchange of data. For voice, it might not be ideal. BLE operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, and remains in ‘sleep’ mode unless a connection is initiated. Traditional Bluetooth can handle a lot of data, but will run down battery life quickly, whereas for small amounts of data BLE is more user-friendly and efficient.
