UO EVENTS
  • Author of this year's UO Common Reading book, "Under the Feet of Jesus," Helena Viramontes will be visiting campus Monday, Oct. 21, giving a presentation in the EMU Ballroom.
  • The Oregon Cyber Resilience Summit will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the EMU. Register by Oct. 21 and attend free cyber security workshops hosted by federal and industry experts.
  • In honor of Substance Abuse Awareness Month, the EMU will host a Student Well-Being Fair Wednesday, Oct. 23. Play games, win prizes, and learn about important resources on campus.
  • Run a 5k with the Duck next Friday, Oct. 25, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., starting at Riverfront Field. Kids can run a 1k Fun Run across the Autzen Footbridge at 3:30 p.m.
TALKS AND WORKSHOPS
  • Join the Cinema Studies program Monday, Oct. 21, at 4:00 p.m. for an exploration of "Colour, Mobility and Cinematic Cartography" in India during the 1960s.
  • The BE Series welcomes award-winning poet Hieu Minh Nguyen on Tuesday, Oct. 22, for BE Here, a dinner and presentation on Nguyen's experience as a queer Vietnamese American writer.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 23, there will be a Stress and Anxiety Management Workshop at the Duck Nest. This is a great chance to develop stress management techniques before midterms hit.
  • Learn about the relationship between meditation and human physiology Wednesday, Oct. 23, 4:00–5:00 p.m. 
  • The latest Quack Chat pub talk with be "Welcome Mats and Moats with Alligators: The Real History of Mexican Immigration" Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 6:00 p.m.
  • The Outdoor Program is hosting a free bike maintenance workshop for women-identifying folk Thursday, Oct. 24, 5:30–7:00 p.m.
NOTEWORTHY
  • Spend your weekend making a video on the importance of scientific research and enter it by midnight Monday for a chance to win up to $1,000!
  • Stop by the Holden Center for drop-in leadership and service advising every Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.
  • Kicking off Healthy Campus Week next week, there will be yoga and therapy dogs at the Duck Nest on Monday, Oct. 21, 3:30–5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 22, there will be a Produce Drop at the EMU Amphitheater, 3:00–5:00 p.m. Come for the free produce, stay for the Duck Nest's information table on food resources around campus.
  • Part of our switch from course evaluations to student experience surveys, there will be a Midway Student Experience Survey next week. This gives instructors time to make adjustments based on feedback for the rest of the term.
ARTS AND CULTURE
  • Get out of the rain and dive into a bowl of popcorn with movie night, tonight at the EMU. This week Ducks After Dark is showing Toy Story 4.
  • Tomorrow, this multimedia exhibit in Lawrence Hall takes a humorous tone while exploring gender, performance, and gaze from safe confinement of a "Fish Tank."
  • Take some time to unwind Wednesday and veg-out on free snacks in the EMU while you paint your own rubber ducky
  • Experience the vibrant costuming, emotive acting, and larger-than-life movements of Kathakali, Indian dance drama, at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. 
  • Celebrate Homecoming Week by wearing yellow Monday, green Tuesday, Wednesday show off your campus pride with team and club swag, and Thursday wear "O" gear!
