Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,

Last week at the reception for newly tenured and promoted faculty, 11 distinguished faculty scholars from across the university were recognized for achieving the career milestones of receiving promotion and tenure during the past academic year. The event featured remarks from myself, the deans of the colleges and schools and President Monsignor Reilly.

"You have reached this milestone in your careers at a time of significant disruption in higher education," President Reilly said. "It has never been more important for Seton Hall to have skilled, caring and conscientious faculty members. And despite the disruption, this institution will continue to thrive – in large part because of you and your equally dedicated colleagues."

President Reilly’s remarks underscore why this milestone is so meaningful. Not only as a testament to the faculty’s dedication and accomplishments, but also to the important role they play in shaping the academic experience of our students. Their contributions are essential to creating transformational learning experiences and to the strength of our institution.

Newly promoted and tenured faculty members will also be acknowledged at Faculty Convocation on Friday, September 18 along with new faculty, Emeritus faculty and faculty who recently completed the ACUE program.

The Office of Grant Research Services seeks faculty applicants for the position of Assistant Director of the Prestigious Fellowships Program (PFF). This is a service role supported with a stipend. Join us for our year-opening Mass of the Holy Spirit, with University President Monsignor Joseph Reilly who will preside and preach.

All classes will be canceled on the South Orange campus, noon - 1 p.m., to facilitate Mass attendance in the University Center Event Room.

At the Interprofessional Health Sciences campus, this special Mass will be celebrated at noon in the IHS chapel.

📌 September 21 – October 2: First and Second Year Progress Report
 An early check-in to identify first- and second-year students who may need additional support as they adjust to and progress through the semester.

📌 October 9 – 23: Mid-Term Report
 Identifies students who may be experiencing academic challenges and need support.

📌 November 16 – December 4: Final Progress Report
 Helps identify students who may benefit from outreach and support as the semester ends.

Applications for the 2026–27 Faculty Innovation Grants (FIGs) are due Friday, September 18. Full-time faculty may apply individually or as part of an interdisciplinary team for projects that use emerging technologies to advance teaching, learning, research or creative practice. Review the guidelines and apply.

Create Instructional Content with the Lightboard Studio

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events

Student Attendance Confirmation in Compass
To remain compliant with federal regulations, all faculty members are required to record attendance for students enrolled in their courses. Faculty received an email with instructions on how to complete attendance verification in Compass. Please complete this process promptly, as student financial aid cannot be released until attendance has been confirmed.

Sabbatical Workflow Update - Faculty Step
The sabbatical leave workflow has been opened and is available in Faculty Success. The faculty step is due by October 1. Questions regarding the sabbatical application process may be directed to Kaerielle Larsen in the Office of the Provost.
