*Current limits from City of Oxford resolutions.
Requirements
- Masks must be worn by all attendees/participants (indoors and outdoors).
- Social distancing of 6 feet must be maintained (indoors and outdoors).
- List of approved venues to be vetted by Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) or the Ole Miss Student Union (OMSU) to ensure they meet the requirements.
- Gatherings must be registered as usual in The ForUM. Staff will be flexible with the normal 15-day event registration process in order to expedite submissions for this pilot program; of course, submit as soon as possible. Protocols for the event to be reviewed by FSL or OMSU.
- If food is served, the event must follow COVID-19 protocols established for food service.
- Transportation should follow travel guidelines that include 50% bus capacity while still wearing masks. If group transportation is not provided, those riding in vehicles together should be instructed to wear masks. Riding only with roommates is preferable.
- In advance of the social gathering, the attendee list must be provided to OMSU (for Registered Student Organizations except Greek organizations) or FSL (for Greek organizations). Only current students and/or organization advisors will be allowed to attend the social gathering.
- In order for the event to go forward, 25% of students on the attendee list must get tested through the Sentinel Testing Program on the Tuesday or Wednesday prior to the event.
- This does not include:
- Individuals who have previously tested through the Sentinel Testing Program since Sept. 8.
- Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days. These individuals can submit documentation of positive result from a healthcare provider or facility to: Proof of Positive for Sentinel Testing.Individuals should submit via the link even if they have previously provided a positive test result to Student Health Services.
- If any invitee refuses to get tested, the gathering will not take place.
- Students with positive test results cannot participate in the scheduled gathering. Any student who receives a positive test result must isolate and participate in contact tracing. If the positive individual refuses to name contacts, the gathering will not be allowed to take place.
- Note that Wednesday testing by UMMC at the Lafayette County Health Department is free also and will be allowed if proper paperwork is presented. Testing results via this route may take 2–3 days.
- Any violations of the parameters and requirements associated with this pilot program will be subject to sanctions from the Office of Conflict Resolution & Student Conduct.
- Organizations with questions about how to host an on-campus social gathering should contact the OMSU staff.
We are committed to piloting this process for two weeks with the understanding that we are evaluating the number of cases in our community, compliance by attendees and the availability of asymptomatic testing (currently scheduled through October). We will use the outcomes from this pilot effort to assess this approach and decide how to proceed. We appreciate your participation and cooperation in this pilot process and your continued patience and flexibility as we evolve our response to COVID-19.
Be safe. Be responsible.
