WEBSITE FAQ CONTACT REQUEST COMPOST MY ACCOUNT
Greetings, Volunteers!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer! As we enter the Fall months there are lots of exciting volunteer opportunities to consider. In addition, please see the volunteering update below.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic we've been flexible about volunteer opportunities carrying over month to month. Going forward we are making some adjustments to the opportunities and organizations included – especially as we have greater need for volunteers at our farm site and at events. Please make sure you choose a current opportunity highlighted in our newsletter each month in order to receive credit. Also a friendly reminder that any additional hours volunteered beyond the required 2 hours still count towards the one month of credit.

To sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email and we will help answer any questions you may have. Then simply send confirmation of your volunteer hours to volunteer@garbagetogarden.org to receive credit.

Happy Composting,

Join Maine Island Trail Association for an Island cleanup!
Join MITA for a shoreline cleanup of islands around Casco Bay! Experienced volunteer skippers will take crews out by small skiff to clean marine debris from targeted islands. This is a great way to experience islands on the Trail while taking part in the stewardship of these special places.

Boats depart at 9 a.m. from the East End Boat Launch in Portland, and volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to check in.

Crews will break for lunch on the islands, and return to the mainland between 2-3 p.m. This is a full day event, and volunteers need to be physically capable of climbing in and out of boats and walking along uneven and often slippery shorelines.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED; please sign up at mita.org/volunteer. Parties of more than 4 should contact MITA directly (cwall@mita.org or 207-370-9876).
