We are excited to share with you some Hockaday highlights!
Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had a restful break. Our students have only been back in the classroom for a few days, but we are well underway into a month filled with service and celebration, the end of the semester, and the start of new exploration.

Reminder, if you are interested in learning more about diversity and inclusion at Hockaday, we invite you and your family to join us for a Panel and Reception this Sunday, January 13, from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Please read the invitation below for more details or contact our office at 214-360-6524 if you have any questions. This will be a great opportunity to visit with students and families from diverse backgrounds about their experience at Hockaday.

All my best,

Barbara Bush Foundation’s Student Essay Contest Winners

Congratulations to Fifth-grade students Maddy Oyakama and Winnie Young, winners in The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Student Essay Contest for 2018. The contest was open to Second through Fifth grade students. The foundation honors Mrs. Bush and her passion for literacy, which she advocated for throughout her life. Former First Lady Barbara Bush once said, “Reading opens the world to me and keeps me open to the world.” Students were asked to write an essay about a book that helped open the world to them.

Intergalactic Unicorns Win

The Middle School Robotics team, Intergalactic Unicorns, won the judges award at their most recent competition. This award is given to a team that impresses the judges throughout the day. Another team, The Space Daisies, won the First Place Champions Award. They had a great showing in every area and were the first team this season to accomplish all of their programmed missions during a robot run. All five of Hockaday's Robotics teams have advanced to the super qualifier round!
